Author Guidelines
Until further notice, contributions to the journal should be sent to the journal's email address socstud@fss.muni.cz.
We accept original, previously unpublished articles (5000-8000 words, including references, notes and appendix), review studies (up to 3000 words), book reviews (up to 2000 words), and conference reports and other academic texts (up to 2000 words). Submissions should be sent electronically in .DOC, .DOCX or .RTF format to the editors. The cover letter should provide the full address and contact information, including e-mail address, for each author.
We accept papers in Czech, Slovak (for Czech issues) and English (for English issues). All submissions must be written in 12-point font and 1.5 line spacing. They must include: 1) a title, 2) a short summary (150 words), 3) 5-7 key words and 4) information about the author(s) and their institutional affiliation.
All pictures, charts, tables and graphs should be referred to as figures and consecutively numbered. Each figure and table must be given an Arabic numeral, followed by a heading, and be referred to in the text. Tables should be placed on a separate page, and pictures, charts and graphs should be sent as separate files. Their position in the text should be suggested by the sentence: “Insert table/diagram/chart/chart X here.” Use footnotes throughout the text. Do not use endnotes. Do not use the MS Word “Insert note” feature as it causes formatting difficulties.
References and bibliography must follow the Harvard citation style (author-date-system) and ASA style. References in the text must be included in the reference list at the end of the paper, and vice versa. Please refer to
journal guidelines for detailed instructions.
Quotations are to be marked by quotation marks (“quotation”) in plain text (not in italics). Single quotation marks (‘'quotation’) are to be used only when quoting within a quote. Quotations longer than four lines are to be formatted as separate paragraphs without quotation marks, separated from the text body by one empty line.
All manuscripts and submissions are to be sent by email to socstud@fss.muni.cz. A cover letter should provide the full address and contact information, including e-mail address, for each author.
