The contribution is dedicated to selected aspects of General Data ProtectionRegulation in the context of the Internet of Things. Following the introductory definition of this new technological trend, the attention is turned to its three partial aspects while taking into account the specifics of the Internet of Things. Next is addressed the significance of the shift towards self-regulation represented by the impact assessment and restrictions, whichfollow in this regard from related provisions. As the third is mentioned in the new mandatory obligation to notify apersonal data breach and the broaderthan European context of this issue is introduced. In conclusion are addressed the risks, which stand against putting the newly adopted regulation into effect, and the challenges that need to be overcome until its coming into force.
