The aim of this article is to introduce strategic role of patent law in the development of economics that is currently focused especially on R&D and technical innovation. Initially, patent law and its basic concepts will be introduced as such. This chapter will be followed by analysis of limitations that patent owners have to face and deal with. Further, strategies of various subjects on the patent market will be examined. Finally, the article will briefly review discussion about the future of patent law.
