Street view services offer internet users virtual tours of various places enabled through interconnected pano-ramic pictures. The author of this article aims to assess whether services such as street view unreasonably inter-fere with the privacy of people captured in these pictures. Therefore, he first analyses the nature of the services, their technological background and significance. On the basis of this analysis he assesses the services from human rights, data protection and information society services point of view. Theoretical reflections are complemented by a study on the operation of street view services in the Czech Republic. The author comes to the conclu-sion that street view services stand on the border of what we perceive as unreasonable invasion of privacy.
