The European reform of personal data protection

Abstract
The aim of this article is to introduce the main points of  the  European  Commission’s  proposal  of  General Data  Protection  Regulation  and  to  briefly  evaluate this proposal. The Regulation represents a fundamental revision of the whole legal framework and shall signifi-cantly influence national legislation of Member States. Individual  chapters  will  clarify  the  rationale  of  the proposed reform, new rights of the data subjects, a cata-logue  of  controllers  obligations,  a  new  institute  of  the data protection officer and finally duties of the Member States  and  organizational  structure  in  the  European Union.
