Clinical coaching as the form of psychotherapy

Vol.6,No.2(2012)

Abstract

The text consists of the number of intertwined layers. The author believes that there is not a variety of different psychotherapies, but that psychotherapy is a single field containing many different faces, variations, methods, techniques, origins, interpretation approaches, as well as ways of their creation and application. He shows how symptom-based psychotherapy is insufficient for handling the changes that are going beyond the elimination of psychopathology and that are necessary for preventing re-occurrence. Such changes are also essential for opening new possibilities of a fulfilling and meaningful life. He shows this on Clinical Coaching and other “non psychotherapeutic” methods. According to the author, in fact, psychotherapy concerns the entire personality, all of the human being as such, including his/her relationships field. The author foreshadows novel possibilities of development and rebirth of the field, emphasizing the importance of graduate university education and subsequent postgraduate specialization.
