Mandala in art therapy

Vol.7,No.2(2013)
Boundaries of psychotherapy (thematic issue)

Abstract

Mandala is a regular circular shape that facilitates relaxation and helps us to make contact with ourselves. This approach has been brought to psychotherapy by C. G. Jung. Later mandala was adapted by art therapy. This gave us more options for working with mandalas and helped to spread mandalas as a tool for self-discovery all around the world. Our goal is to provide a basic overview of mandala possibilities in psychotherapy and to show how to combine mandala with other therapeutic approaches.
