The article draws attention to social constructionism, a theoretical and philosophical framework that inspired psychotherapists and family therapists. In the beginning, the article focuses on the process of social construction of knowledge. Then it deals with dominant discourse of deficit in current society and takes note of the consequences of such trend. In the end, the article view psychotherapy and current emphasis on research from the social constructionist viewpoint.
