Metaphors of a family in Czech language and selected authors' metaphors in Czech family therapy
Vol.2,No.3-4(2008)
The goal of this article is to describe linguistic picture of the family as seen through the point of view of the metaphors used in the sense of family and its members. These metaphors are family as live entity (plant, tree, body), family as a building or its part (fireplace, roof, haven, nest) and family as a connection (shackle, circle). The metaphors are compared with two psychoterapeutic author´s metaphors- family as a social uterus, family island. The resource for this work is research by Račovská (2007) published in the deegre work The Picture of the Family in Czech and Bulgarian, that used cognitive linguistic perspective to detect special metaphors naturally used in these languages.
