Vol.6,No.2(2012)

Abstract

The author describes optimal therapeutic relationship and ethical principles in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. She shares her experiences from psychoanalytic training and clinical practice in the USA, emphasizing the importance of personal analysis and supervision in working with transference and countertransference in treatment and in learning ethical principles of psychotherapy. Ethical rules for psychological practice in the USA have been developing since the nineteen fifties and they are very strict today. In Czech society ethics are poorly developed and psychological practice often lacks proper level of ethical approach to clients.
