Following qualitative research aims to explore general principles occuring during the intervention. Nineteen university students underwent the expressive writing for twenty minutes for four consecutive days. The collected writings were analysed according to the grounded theory approach, five basic forms of writing were distinguished – description, narration, thinking through, emotional experiencing and stream of consciousness. In conclusion, several factors leading to positive effects are proposed, emphasizing the moment of clarifying their needs and finding a balance between their own needs and the needs of others, which can lead to more realistic expectations.
