How to educate integrative psychotherapists I: Basic questions and problems

Abstract

The authors summarize arguments supporting the usefulness of integrative psychotherapeutic perspective. Consequently, basic questions and dilemmas concerning education (training) of integrative therapists are discussed, including the choice of a particular approach to integration, the problem of timing of teaching integration, and the questions for whom is the integrative perspective suitable, who is competent to teach integration, and also whether an integrative training should include training in research methodology. Finally, the authors propose possible ways in which the integrative perspective may inspire traditional unimodal trainings.
