Two levels of Quaternary pediment at Slavkov u Brna, Central Moravian Carpathians

Vol.19,No.1-2(2012)

Abstract
Quaternary pediment at Slavkov u Brna (Austerlitz), Central Moravian Carpathians developed in periglacial environment of the Late Pleistocene. Th e origin of dells (Hangdellen) is responsible for the backwearing of the northern valley side of the Litava River, the downwearing (lateral erosion), for the development of the lower part of the pediment. Th e pediment is also shaped at present mainly during snow and frozen ground thawing at the winter–spring transition as well as heavy summer rains.
