About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The Geological research is peer-reviewed open access journal that publishes original research articles. The journal aims principally at quick publication of variety results from different fields of geological sciences and its applied sectors including interdisciplinary topics, laboratory experiments and modelling.
Journal is focused on basic data and their simple and clear interpretation. Its aim is to facilitate the systematic development of the scientific body of knowledge in the field of geosciences with a span beyond the region of Central Europe. The form of articles/texts is as concise as possible.
There is a section for publication of extended abstracts from conferences and meetings as well.
Peer Review Process
After article submission the editor evaluates basic criteria and requirements (1st screening) and possibly article could be return to authors for completing. When accepted for review the article is sent to reviewers (single blind review). Commonly two reviewers are selected from professionals/researchers working in the same/similar field. Reviewers send back (within three weeks) the filled review form with questions related to stated criteria and their additional critical report including comments, advises and recommendations whether the work should be accepted, considered acceptable with revisions, or rejected. In a case of rejection from one (or two) reviewer the editor will decide to ask another new reviewer. Reviewer reports with editorial comments are sent to authors for revisions. Authors send back the revised article to the editor. Eventually the revised work could be sent to the particular reviewer for a check. The editor/editorial board evaluate additional comments of reviewers and a final version of article and make decision - accepted for publication or rejection.
