NÁLEZY ARTEFAKTŮ PODOBAJÍCÍCH SE STRUSKÁM ZE SLAVKOVA POD HOSTÝNEM

The article is focused on the characterization of slag-like artefacts discovered in Slavkov pod Hostýnem. It deals especially with an analysis of qualitative phase composition, structure and characterization based on accessible physical and chemical methods (magnetic susceptibility, WDX microanalysis, bulk chemical composition). The slag-like material is composed of dominating glass phase containing both the residual unmelted phases (quartz, spinelide) and the newly crystallized phases (mullite, spinelide). In addition, droplets of metal iron containing FeS-inclusions were found. The bulk chemical composition is different from those characterizing the common iron slags, especially due to extraordinary high content of Al2O3 (23 wt. %). It is concluded that the studied artefacts probably originated by smelting of local red clay.
