Abstract
This article deals with problems of criminal law sanction systems of particular states belonging bo­th to the continental and the Anglo-American legal systems. The author also pays attention to the pe­nalty clauses in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, England and Wales, and the U.S.A.. She provides a characteristic of punishments and measures, and the legal bases of their impositions. She carries aut a comparison of the sanction systems of the states in question. As a conclusion she evaluates the Czech system of criminal law sanctions and outlines possi­ble direction of its future developments, especially in relation with the Suggestion of the Conception of New Codification of the Criminal Substantive Law of the Czech Republic.
