Vol.2,No.2(1994)

Abstract
The adoption of a new Statute of the Faculty of Law of Law Komenský University in Bratislava after November 1989 resulted in accentuating the importance of the role of Roman private law as an academic subject. This fact brought about the publication of new textbooks and also the ranking of Roman law as one of the subjects under the compulsory state exam. Teaching of Roman law gives the students the possibility of familiarizing with the implementation and application of a legal system from the very beginning of their studies, taking into account the fact that Roman law may undoubtedly be ranked among the elements strongly influencing the development of modern cívilizations.
