The article provides an introductory analysis of the current constitutional system of Ukraine. It deals with the structure of the system, describes the status, the roles and the constitutional powers of the state bodies (the President of the State, the Parliament, the Government and the judicial institutions, in particular the Constitutional Court) and clarifies the relations between the individual branches of power. The paper also pays attention to the legal institute of referendum and its usage in political practice.
