Hypermobility In Sport

Vol.9,No.2(2015)

Abstract

Hypermobility is still a neglected cause of pain and musculoskeletal injuries. It is also a predisposing factor for a variety of musculoskeletal disorders – functional or structural. Hypermobility is a sign of reduced quality of connective tissue – ligamentous increased laxity. Through visual examination and knowledge of specific tests, the importance of the athlete’s history cannot ignore. Test results can help us to design an adequate exercise program.

Keywords:
hypermobility; ligamentous increased laxity; testing; exercise program; prevention of injury
