Assessing The Impact Of Education On Self-Sufficiency And Mobility Of Seniors

Vol.5,No.1(2011)

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the level of influence for education to the self-sufficiency and mobility in seniors. In addition, to map the prevalence of disability and mobility limitations in both elderly men and women. For this study a random selection of people over 75 years were selected. They were tested with the “Get up and go“ test to assess their habitual mobility and by using the Barthel index, the level of dependence in ADL (activities of daily living) was set. Through a personality questionnaire, personal data was obtained on the subjects. Using statistical methods, obtained data was compared with personal data from the researched group. Data is still being obtained and processed; therefore, only preliminary conclusions are included.
