On the Forms of Public Participation in the Environmental Impact Assessment Procedure

Vol.3,No.2(1995)

Abstract
Public plays an important role in the environmental impact assessment procedures. Even though the term "public" is frequently used in the Act No 244/1992 Coll. on the Environmental Impact Assessinent, this law does not define it.

In this article, the author analyzes legal definitions of "civic initiative" and "civic association" in comparison to the term "public". Based on this analysis, the term "public" is outlined as one or more individuals or legal entities. Ways to broaden and improve public participation in the environmental impact assessment procedures are also proposed.
