Vol.8,No.1(2000)

Abstract
This artícle is an attempt at comparative study in socíal partnership issue. The first part focuses on bipartite/tripartite consultative bodies across Western Europe countries and one very important pillar of tripartite consultation: the Internatíonal Labour Organization that is based on these principles. In the second part we examine consultatíons between Government, employers and trade unions in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia. The last part considers two main ways of establishing a national consultative body - law or tripartite agreement - in a developing free-market society.
