Interpreting Services for Deaf and Interpretation in Criminal Law

The article discusses the topic of the interpretation services for individuals with hearing impairment, explains the concept of the interpretation as such and defines various types of this service. The article also outlines the main strategies for the communication with a person with hearing impairment. Also offers information about various centers that offer interpreting services. The article gives the basic information about Teiresias Centre, which is the provider of interpretation services for students at MU. The article deals with specifics of interpreting in the context of the criminal law. Furthermore focuses on the question whether the sign language is suitable for the interpretation of terms specific for the law. The article is based on the experience that the author acquired during her studies at the Faculty of Law.
