The article deals with international responsibility and liability for environmental harm. On the basis of very general introduction to this rather incoherent system the attention is paid to several problems in the forefront of interest as regards effective solving of environmental harm with international impacts. Firstly, some aspects of international responsibility and secondly international liability in international environmental law are presented. Last part is devoted to international civil liability systems in chosen international conventions, especially in conventions on liability for nuclear damage, in Basel Protocol on Liability and Compensation for Damage Resulting from Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal and finally in Convention on Civil Liability for Damage Resulting from Activities Dangerous to the Environment.
