The Notion of Thing in the New Czech Civil Code in the Historical Perspective

Abstract
The notion res is one of the most important legal institutes in the history of private law. This article compares Roman law and tradition of the Czechoslovak legal science. The aim of this comparation is to improve interpretation and understanding of the regulation of the law of property in the New Czech Civil Code. Attention is also paid to the topics connected with this area: possession, protection of the property (actio Publiciana), acquisition of property (included acquisition from a person other than the owner), prescription and limitation of time.
