Abstract
One of the pTincipal tasks of our legislation is the preparation of a new Civil Code at present. In the connection with that we find it necessary to remind at least in a few pages of the beginnings of civil codifications which established a rich tradition that can be successfully followed by a contemporary law-giver. Namely the year of 1753 can be considered as a significant turning point in the unification process of feudal law and that was in a certain sense the beginning of codilication effort in civil or in that time the whole private law what resulted in the first Civil Code called Codex Theresianus. The paper deals with the preceding events and the importance for further development of civil law codification.
