The Czechoslovak Academie Association Právník

Vol.2,No.1(1994)

Abstract
The complex system of student organizations, existing in the first Czechoslovak Republic had one of its elements also in the so called faculty associations, in which university students/graduates voluntarily associated.

The activity of such associations could be documented by the case of the largest association of the students and graduates of the Masaryk University Faculty of Law, called Právník. More than thirty years' history of the association proves that despite all proclamations of the faculty associations' independence their activity did not go separate from the social reality, including politics. In the history of Právnlk we could find many stages, reffecting with greater/smaller accuracy the situation in the society of that period, including the politically motivated polarization inside the formally apolitical organization.

The essay covers the history of the association from its foundation in 1919 up to the year 1950, when it was dissolved.
