As of the beginning of 1994 the procurature will transform to state representation. Thereby we return to an institution that underwent a long development before it was abolished in 1953. The authors of the essay concentrated on covering the history of state representation from ancient times, yet direct their atention mostly to the post-1848 period. They give a description of state representatinn, its powers and organization. The system was finally established after the fall of Bach's absolutism, being hased on the Fundamental Act on Judicial Power of 1867. The Act was implemented by the Penal Order of 1873, which followed the Order of 1850.
