Lenka Fišerová

Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Chemistry

I have been dealing with the field of learning styles and strategies. Moreover, my professional interests also cover life-long extension of language competence. Further on, I have been focusing on computer-based and supported teaching and learning.

For more than twenty years I have been based at Brno University of Technology lecturing ESP and EAP courses for students of chemistry.

I completed my Ph.D. studies by defending the “Potential of internet for support of learning styles of university students in English courses” thesis at the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic, in 2006.

I rank the following selected publications among my most valuable ones:

i) Electronic textbook English for Chemists I. – IV., co-author; ii) Learning Styles of Language Learners: Overview and Directions in Life-Long Learning Perspective,  author, journal article; iii) Learning Styles of University Students and Internet-based Environments: the Brno University of Technology Experience, author, journal article.

The above articles ii) and iii) deal with both qualitative investigation of aspects making web-based learning effective and quantitative research pointing at the potential of internet environment for teacher independent learning and deep processing during language learning.
