Translation as a tool for developing transferable skills within the framework of foreign language teaching for students of non-philological fields of study

Abstract
In this paper, we define and identify transferable skills within the key competences in the theory and educational process and analyse their importance in order to stress the necessity of preparing a graduate able to face the growing demands of the 21st century society. The impetus is the fact that socio-political and economic changes affect the conditions of work performance and change the expectations of the market which have to be reflected by universities. The aim is to present how can the course "Translation" for the curriculum of the non-philological fields of study be adapted to contribute to the development of transferable skills. The paper demonstrates the role of translation as a tool used for teaching the students transferable skills by giving examples of good practice and its didactic methods.
