Less Widely Spoken and Taught Languages: The Spanish Situation

Abstract

This paper addresses the issue of less widely spoken and taught languages. The terminology regarding these languages is discussed. The Expanded Graded Intergenerational Disruption Scale used by Ethnologue is explained to show the problem regarding endangered languages. Finally, the situation of languages in Spain is dealt with, both institutionally and academically.
