The paper focuses on several topics related to the ability to compare mistakes in native speaker´s and foreigners´s language production. The starting point of the contribution is the consideration of who can be taken for a native speaker and whether his language production can be understood as a standard of communication competencies. Further, the contribution deals with the concept of a language norm and describes the standards of written production, which can be a base to deduce what can be held for an error. On the basis of comparison of authentic texts, the aim of the paper is to show degree and types of errors made by native speakers and foreigners.
