The article deals with the role of speaking in the textbook Czech for Foreigners – Level A1 and A2 by M. Boccou Kestřánková, D. Štěpánková a K. Vodičková. The article describes the target group of non-native speakers who this textbook is designed for. It also introduces the conception of the textbook and shows two main differencies between the A1, A2 textbook and the B1, B2 textbooks of the same name.
