Excursions as an Innovative and Motivating Tool in Teaching and Learning Foreign Languages

Abstrakt

Breaking the traditional routine of classroom teaching. Participation in a conference as a form of the excursion or a mock event can be a good resource in triggering active communication in university English classes. Any active performance outside a classroom can be motivating and enabling to improve students’ competencies. The impact of participation in a conference can enhance students´ performance. The paper describes an experiment executed with students and simulated experience of a group of students after they attended a students’ conference held by a faculty. The purpose of the article is to provide a suggestion for teachers to take students out of English classes and prepare them for the high-level competence they will have to demonstrate in their chosen careers.
