Abstrakt
This article describes the life of the important builder Hubert Svoboda from Brno. The reader will learn how Hubert Svoboda lived during the first Czechoslovak Republic, the World War II and the communist regime. He constructed famous buildings in Brno – for example Jiří Kroha´s villa, Zeman´s café and a crematorium. He cooperated with Alois Horký, who was a Resistance fighter against Nazism during the Second World War. Hubert Svoboda employed a lot of legionaries from the World War I. Hubert Svoboda met Kurt Lebert, who was member of Security Service of the Reichsführer-SS (SD). Hubert Svoboda was after the World War II sentenced to two years imprisonment and then he was shadowed during the communist regime by the State Security.
