Anabaptists, or habanes in Czech country have been seeking sanctuary since 1526 for a wave of persecution in Western Europe. The teaching of the Anabaptists ordered the giving of baptism in adulthood. They attended church service in large houses, the socalled fraternal countryards, most commonly known as Brüderhof or haushaben. Haushaben had up to 300 oeople. Popular were their unique ceramic products, known as Haban Faience. Their communities were founded based on the principles of piety, discipline and voluntary property communities. Anabaptists arrived in Bohemia already in 1526 and settled in Jáchymov and in western Bohemia. Anabaptists from Bavaria and Tyrol have settled in southern Bohemia since 1526. Succlessful communities were established in the vicinity of Hluboká nad Vltavou and Jindřichův Hradec. In February 1528, however, the Czech Landtag decided to prosecute them.
