Abstrakt
The article follows up on a similar paper, published in the Proceedings of the Faculty of Education MU, in 1999. At that time, we summarized the results of our research activities for the first decade of the field research in 1986–1995. However, the work is still ongoing and has brought a lot of new knowledge about the importance and status of the stronghold of St. Hippolitus, as the centre of power of Southwest Moravia, which was during 8th–10th century one of the most important centres of the Great Moravian Empire. So, we come up with another clear processing of our scientific research activities on the site. It means during the second decade of the research, from 1996 to 2005, when we conducted 40 major research projects and besides them a number of small field surveys. In a review of our activities, it is necessary to mention, in addition to our own archaeological works, other activities in which both our students and graduates are involved, either teaching or spending their leisure time. It is all about building and gradual expansion of an archaeological base, building a museum with a permanent exhibition and a form of experimental archaeology and building a small archaeological openair museum of Great Moravia.
