Abstrakt
The existence of Czech enclaves and Czech language islands abroad is relatively well mapped today from the point of view of their origins. After World War II, Czech linguistics, in connection with the preparation of the Czech Language Atlas, captured in detail the form of Czech language in these enclaves and islands. Dialectological research has also helped to uncover some unknown places in their history, eg from where the first members of the Czech language is from the Czech historical territory. Today’s situation in these islands has changed significantly since 1989. For example, in Banat, the Czech villages, which until then were isolated, opened to Czech tourists, their inhabitants‘ contacts with the Czech Republic grew stronger and many of their inhabitants repatriated. These facts have also significantly influenced the form of the local Czech language. The Czech language islands in Ukraine have almost disappeared due to repatriation, etc. It is therefore necessary to start a new research on the state of the Czech language without delay in the Czech enclaves (now probably already extinct) and language islands. It would be worthwhile to describe the relationship of various generations of emigrants to the Czech language.
