This article describes the life and career of Jan of Pernstein and his economic activities. The pivotal part of the paper is devoted to the Plumlov estate. It first introduces the situation of the estate since the late 15th century and subsequently it describes the efforts of Jan pernsten to improve the estate economically. These efforts, however, were not successful as Jan of Pernstein had assumed.
