Abstrakt
This study focuses on gaining an understanding of the specific features of the process of recatholisation on the mensal estates of the Olomouc diocese during the period immediately following the Council of Trent. The Bishops of Olomouc were the principal representatives of recatholisation in Moravia. Their direct domains became the starting point for the campaign of recatholisation. (Outward) recatholisation was, with minor exceptions, successfully completed here before 1619. The prerequisite to this success was, first and foremost, the possibility of asserting recatholisation from a position of direct power. The impact of recatholisation measures was minimal in areas in which this was not the case, for example on a number of feudal estates in the Olomouc diocese.
