Abstrakt
The purpose of this article is to describe the provisions of the statute of the Monastery of Canons Regular of St. Augustine in Vienna, which is devoted to liturgical song. The statute dates from the 15th century. Source informations particularly concern the singing of psalms and sung mass. The office of cantor, subcantor, choir rector and hebdomadarius priest are regulated. The roles of the representatives of the monastery and convent, i.e. the provost and dean, during liturgical singing is also defined. The statute specifies the form of the canonical hours. Emphasis is placed on the uniform character of singing, individual displays are not permitted. Excess during singing is sanctioned and sanctions concern the personal dignity of the transgressor, but are of a nonpublic character..
