Abstrakt
This study deals with the life of the Karaim immigrants, who moved to Czechoslovakia in the 1920s as a part of the Russian emigration. This is a topic that has thus far not received scholarly attention. We focus here above all on the fate of the Karaim geologist Michail Katyk and his family members, and also on Karaims who studied at universities in Brno. One of them, Andrej Karakoz, a graduate of the Agriculture University, achieved significant scientific results in the field of animal husbandry. His top results are connected to the time he spent in Nitra, Slovakia. Most of the Karaim students in Brno, however, studied at the Technical University. The article is based primarily on the study of archival material from Czech and Slovak institutions.
