Abstrakt
The issue of Ruthenia caused an embarrassment. The Czechoslovak government did not keep a consistent policy there. The earlier sympathy for Ukrainian orientation was changed into Russophile ideas. The governor A. Beskid belonged to this group. In both groups and between Hungarian minority grew a disloyal tendencies. The Ukrainians strengthened their own position in school system. They built the base for their future political aspirations. The Czechoslovak government began to suspect them of the tendency to chauvinism. In the Hungary and Poland the Czechs were accused and suspected that they wanted to leave from Ruthenia and to join new democratic Russia as its a potentially most important ally. The internal situation in Ruthenia was still complicated and the process of awakening national identity continued.
