Film as a genre proves to be an important auxiliary method in the teaching of history, as it helps passing historical facts to students in an effective manner. Moreover, if we present artistic feature movies, in addition to documentaries, the films have not merely an informative, but also axiological, ethical, as well as philosophical impact. Making use of this potential fulfills a certain role in terms of knowledge, as well as in terms of social enlightenment. We point out this fact in our chapter on the application of Socrates’ and Patočka’s philosophical interpretations of educational development of students. Individual phases of this educational process are documented in the American film Between the Lines.
