Abstrakt
The text presents memoirs named “Fragments from the stories of my parents” written by Milena Hašková. The memoirs cover the time span of eight years (1926–1933), a period spent by parents of M. Hašková in the village of Vojvodovo – the only Czech village in Bulgaria (Northwest Bulgaria, Vratsa district). The greatest part of the content of the memoirs concerns the work of Jan Findeis, the father of M. Hašková, who was the first Czech teacher in Vojvodovo. Owing to his position, Jan Findeis became one of the most influential persons in the history of the inhabitants of Vojvodovo, his unexpected task consisting in “nationalizing” of the up to that time ethnically indifferent Vojvodovo community. The memoirs of M. Hašková are preceded by the short introduction into the life and work of Jan Findeis and supplemented by informative footnotes throughout.
