Abstrakt
The article deals with the application of oral history in the modern history didactics, gives options, how to use stories of survivors in the process of motivation or exposure of the curriculum. It features several insights from the experience of Czech and South African students and beginning teachers. Observations relate mainly to ethical and social aspects. We can say that main advantage of applying the methods of oral history is a lot of authenticity and a personal dimension to oral sources. The drawback are the pitfalls, which can demage efforts to objective interpretation of the past. Inexperienced, beginning teacher is inevitably compromised. The author writes about the efforts of the Centre for Oral History SOHI (Department of History, Faculty of Education University of West Bohemia in Pilsen) to be a live, working institution, real methodological centre. The centre tries to eliminate difficulties of beginning teachers as much as possible while promoting use of oral history in teaching.
