Abstrakt
The focus of the study is on the importance of so called small history for forming historical consciousness of school youth. An integral part of the „small“ history is family past. Family memory can be used in many different ways as a didactic problem, from motivation to active research and project approach of pupils based on getting to know close relatives and area. The results of empirical research on historical consciousness of students and history teachers from 2011 points out some aspects concerning their relationship to their family history, keeping their family heritage, family genealogy and observing what is the meaning of family history among other information sources about history and the way it is emphasized in history teaching.
