Abstrakt
This paper considers contemporary history textbooks from the viewpoint of empirical research conducted in 2011. It gives an indication of the place textbooks hold in history teaching in Czech schools today, how and how often they are used in history lessons, and which history textbooks teachers consider the most suitable. It also studies the frequency with which history textbooks are replaced with new ones in schools, the process involved in deciding to choose a specific title and the criteria on which such decisions are based. It also considers analysis conducted into the didactics of the latest history textbooks and further possibilities for assessing their quality. It also takes note of the space devoted to everyday life in history lessons and on the pages of history textbooks in view of its popularity.
