Abstrakt
The creation of united trade unions in Czechoslovakia in post-war 1945 had its roots in the visions of illegal organisations at the end of the Protectorate. The entire organisational structure was based on the principles set out in the Košice government programme which stated that mass social organisations would not be formed for each political party separately, but as national, and therefore united, organisations. This had a fundamental influence in changing the overall character, position and calling that characterised the unions in the preceding pre-Munich period of the First Republic.
