Humanistic initiatives in Central Europe of the very last years before the outbreak of the First World War count among the less known modern history topics in Czech as well as Austrian historiography. Particularly in Vienna, there were several clubs and eminent personages of international importance whose activities have not been sufficiently examined yet. The following initiatives should be highlighted: Deutsch-Tschechisches Komitee (German-Czech Committee) and Austria nova (New Austria) dating back to 1911 and 1913.
